Me Mumbaikar

This weeks rhetoric by Raj Thakeray brought to light once again the dirty side of Indian politics. I sometime wonder on these voices coming from all over the country kashmir, asam, nagaland, mizoram, Andhra everyone wants a seperate state, a seperate identity. I wonder do people like raj thakeray realize that basis of this great nation was the coming together of all states. I sometime want to stand in front of them and tell them straight on the face, leave this country for good !!. Let’s look at some perspective on this issue. Shiva sena started this with “Me Mumbaikar” campaign and now their defamed prodigy, Raj, takes this to next step “My Maharashtra”. Here are my questions to such people:

  1.  Why should a north indian soldier die to save maharashtra?
  2. Should we divide the CBI, intelligence etc also in to regions. So only marathi agents will work for intelligence for maharashtra?
  3. Why does raj thakeray and his bunch of marathis go begging for money for maharashtra every year to the centre which has money from North, east and south as well? Why should I as a north indian pay taxes to building a highway in maharashtra?
  4. Should I ask people like rahul bajaj, ratan tata etc to close all business in maharashtra since they do not belong to maharahstra? What will raj thakeray do to run his state?
  5. Should sachin tendulkar play for maharashtra or india? I do not want him to play MS Dhoni since he is from bihar (incidentally a north indian)

The more I ask these questions and the more saddended my heart is. Is this why our fore fathers gave their lives? Is this why people from north, east, south and west fight against the british? Did shivaji fight for maharashtra or india?

I wish we had a way to throw the raj thakeray’s and karunanidhis and mayawatis out of this country. I wish a country had a right to choose. I Sometime wonder will I ever stand with pride that I am a part of a great nation? The only pride I can talk of is in my history, my present is only shame. I wish what sardar patel would say if he was alive today. Did I sweat to unite these bunch of idiots who want to fall apart again? Will we ever have a leader who can break from the shackles of “sonia ji hainji” and give a vision?
